We know that sending important communications through GuestPoint SMS is a great tool, but messages that are too long can quickly become expensive!
The core idea is this: You pay for your message based on how many "parts" it needs, not just for one text.
To send the most information for the lowest cost, your messages must use only the standard characters—basic letters, numbers, and common punctuation.
Your Limit: A message that is up to 150 characters (letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation) equals 1 message part.
The Cost Jump: If your message is between 151 and 302 characters long, it automatically becomes 2 message parts, and you pay double the price.
Any character that is not a basic English letter, number, or standard punctuation mark is considered a "Special Character" (this includes things like letters with accent marks, currency symbols like €, or non-English alphabets).
New Limit: If your message includes any of these special characters, the technical limit drops dramatically from 150 characters to just 70 characters for the first message part.
The Problem: Because the limit is much lower, your message will be split into many more parts, and it will cost you much more.
